I just joined, and am looking for a broader spectrum, to glean from. This puter is a tool to me, and so are your responses. I kept reading references to the Real Allis Chalmers Forum, over on YT, and wondered what I was missing. I am at Roy Washington, 76 years old, have 6 older Ac"s, of which my WD45 is the newest, which is a 1955.

Greetings from Michigan! I just drug a B10 home from the northern Michigan woods. No clue on when it last ran or anything like that but it was free! I have zero experience with Allis Chalmers tractors but hopefully some day I can bring this little unit back to it's former glory. I grew up on IH farm tractors and we always had a Case as a garden tractor. Now I have my own little collection of toys including a 1948 Empire Tractor, a 1974 Wheelhorse, a 20hp Ingersoll (Case), and a Empire walk behind. IMG_4908 by Rick Jones, on Flickr IMG_4909 by Rick Jones, on Flickr So far my "free" B10 has cost me $102.00 for 2 new front tires, tubes and tubes for the rear tires. I just ordered all new front wheel bearings that cost $61.00. And this just so I can roll it off of the trailer....... LOL!

Ted Just joined the forum. Looking for any info regarding the center main bearing cap being broken. 1948 B is in great condition when recently purchased with seized engine. Unfortunately, it was not just the pistons seized to the sleeves. Looks like it was run with a bad head gasket which ultimately caused coolant to enter a cylinder or two. I'm thinking enough coolant entered the cylinders and this is what caused the center main bearing cap to break. The crank journal is also damaged. The crank can be ground but I'm thinking replacing the main bearing cap would cause issues with the line bore. So much for freeing up the engine.
Thanks for any info as my wife is not interested in a lawn ornament.
Ted
