I want to welcome you as well Phill. The WD-45 is a great tractor. I have 3 WD-45's 2 are gas with narrow front and a wide front diesel. The WC tractors are probably my favoriteand the B and the D series, I guess I love them all. It would be nice if you could post a pic of the 45 and keep posting. Thanks Dallas

Hi! Just joined last Sat. Live in north/central Indiana. Own a '54 WD 45 and an old 4A John Deere plow, have not had a chance, yet, to see how well they work together. Hope to gain a lot of useful information from this forum

I am a new member and I have been trying to get reg. and signed up for several days, but had no luck . Dallas and Kathy have been trying to help. If it had not been for them I guess I would still be out in space somewhere. My sons and I build tractors Allis Chalmers of course , we also pull them as antiques and usually sell about two or three a year. We are about to finish the first one for this year it is a WD45 Diesel and it should be finished in about a week or two. Thanks again to Dallas and Kathy for their help for me to become a member. Ron

Ron We are glad you made it to this site. I think you will like it here. There are some great guys here and it is good to have another AC guy here. What all did yopu do to the WD-45 Diesel?? It would be nice to see pics. Our bottom fields are under water and the hills are on fire. I think some are set on purpose, we fought fires for several hours yesterday, Dallas and Kathy

Well fellows I hope I am on the right track with my message. I will be ok after a while. I noticed I think a message from two or three of you fellows. There is two or three things you can try that might fix the jumping out of gear problems. #1 the shift lever may be worn the part that goes into the gear rack. More then likely the gears are worn where people have tried to change gears without stopping or maybe using the handclutch to change gear without it being properly adjusted. To fix either of the things I would say it would be somewhat of a major job if you have not done it before. The easy way to fix the problem is to find you a WD rear end in good shape and change them out . I run WD rear ends in my old pulling tractors because they usually don"t have that problem. If I can be of help to you I can get you some pictures and information along with the do's and don'ts. Sometime you can take the top off the transmission and grind the rounded edges off but that gets tricky. Ron

I will give you a more detailed run down on the things we have done to this WD 45D . It is quite a change from what it was when it was new. The engine has more power , The tires and wheels are larger. It should be at least we are hoping for a very good tractor. Good night all I will check back with you tomorrow. Ron

After Ron's post this morning about WD 45 D, I decided to see if mine would start. It hasn't been started since last fall. I put the charger on her for a short time, and low and behold she fired right up. The engine is very good, she is wearing her work clothes, Maybe some day I will see about getting her to look like new. It does jump out of 3rd once in a while, though.

HI. My name is Paul and i am in the Olympic Pennisula of Washington State. I own a 1954 CA and I have gone thruogh most of the every day amint. and tune up procedures with sucess. I did a lot of work on it other than that mentioned and although I am not an expert, I would be willing to share what I know with any who need. I currently am working on the hand clutch and have removed all except the brake drum and shaft. I have the right final drive off and have posted a request for help on the forum (like I said, I am not an expert). Up to this point, I am willing to share all the steps I had to go thru to get this far. I also have worked on the brakes and engine adjustments short of disassembling the block. I have done some work on the hydraulics. I know that there are a lot on this forum who know much more than I, but each job on each tractor is unique, so I may be able to help out if asked. I am interested in possibly selling this tractor, so let me know of any interest. Glad to see this forum up and the interest in America's farming history. paul
