From what I understand their is a lot of advantages in using paint hardener, but on the downside the fumes are very toxic.
So my question is, if using case ih red paint, do I really need hardener?
Is their "safer" hardeners out there?
Lastly, if I end up using hardener, I will be painting out doors, so will a good 3M isocyanates approved Respirator do the trick.

Being a painter most of my adult life I was often exposed to just about every condition considered hazardous to my health. I was never real carefull at all and only once used a fresh air hood while spray painting a S&W product containing clorinated rubber. I have a Question? Is it the fumes or vapors from hardeners or is it particulates of isocyanates that are considered dangerous? I may be wrong in my thinking but fumes or volatile vapors work on your ability to function as they can make you goofy. Particals of a material like asbestos, or in this case, paint mixed with osocyanates breathed into your lungs is where the real hazard lies.
