Thank you for the replies, my grandfarther used to have one and I would get to ride on the armrest when I was little. I tried to get the machine he sold to his neighbour up the road but he did not want to sell it. When I seen this one on Craigslist I just had to have it. It is cold here but I need a big snow storm.

HD5 you will enjoy that machine and it is good you know where your grandfathers machine is because you may have a chance to buy it someday. I am curious how did you find this great Allis site. Dallas

I found this site last night on the (Allis Chalmers Tractors Discussion Forum), someone posted it and I had to check it out. I have been searching for Allis Chalmers Fourms and This one never showed up. I was checking out some of the old videos on this site and now I find myself searching for a WD-45, I think I need one of them too.

The WD45's are a good tractor. I drove a new one from the dealer in the 50s. It is long gone but I have 4 more now.

This is my first orange machine. This dozer has a 2 cycle, 2 cylinder Detroit diesel in it that has a sound of it's own and thats what I think caught my attention as a young kid. Question, How does one tell the difference between the WD and the WD-45 beside the decal on the hood?

I would say check the serial number. Above 146607 would be WD45 and below that would be a WD. SN should be on the top left diff brake housing.

The gear shift on a wd is straight and the 45 has a bend in it. (usually) They are a great tractor. Richard what a thrill to drive a new 45 home from the dealor. I am glad you got to do that. The first new tractor I drove was a series 4 D-17 aand am lucky enough to still have it. HD5 am glad you found this site.

I can't answer the HD14 question and I hope its not against the rules here to post a link to another site but I bet you can get your question answered at the discussion section on crawlers at www.allischalmers.com/ . Also welcome to this great forum and maybe someone else here can get you an answer.
